Personal:

I am a 37 year old Male.  I have been married now for over 15 years.  I have three kids, all boys.  My boys ages are 14, 11 and 7.  I have always enjoyed running and my wife is slowly being converted.   While I was going through college I didn't do much running so I am having to teach my leg how to run fast again.

11 miles.  I was planning on doing a speed workout 8*1200 with a 400 rest recovery.  The 1200 would consist of a 800 run at marathon pace then a 400 at mile pace.  I run up to the warror track and start to workout.  I run the first 4 sets.  I was doing pretty good with the pace.  I think I just lost it mentally.  After 4 sets I just end the workout and jog back to my truck.  I have a number of that could be why the mental weakness.  My Right foot was hurting, and I felt sore before the workout.  One thing that would be nice is a running partner or and a coach.  Speed workouts are tough by yourself.  Thursday I plan on running a 3 mile "race".  I am planning on using as a speed workout.  I am going to try and hold 6 minute miles as long as I can then run on in.

Its probably hard to find a good match out there. I have run alone in all but a couple of workouts. In addition to not really knowing anyone, my problem is that my schedule is tight and I have to fit in the runs whenever I can in as short a time period as possible. If you love it, you make it work!

I am guessing 17:55 for your race with a monster final mile. I will be looking for the result.

It is so hard to do speed alone for sure. Just use races as speed workouts. That's what I try to do. I haven't been good at speed at all lately. I've been in a big mental funk as well as getting over sicknesses lately so I think that would contribute to my mental funk. I'm planning on running the 30k sat if I feel better. I'm going pretty slow though and just having fun w it. See ya sat.

Josh, 17:55, that would be cool. I just looking for a little speed work. Good luck on saturday, see you there.

Angie, Hope to see you Saturday. With you being slow I might be able to run with you, if I can keep up.
