Personal:

I am a 37 year old Male.  I have been married now for over 15 years.  I have three kids, all boys.  My boys ages are 14, 11 and 7.  I have always enjoyed running and my wife is slowly being converted.   While I was going through college I didn't do much running so I am having to teach my leg how to run fast again.

I started out with a 1.5 mile warm up then I stretched used the rest room.

Before the race I planned on running the first file in 6:15 to 6:20 and then see how thing went from there.  While I was talking to Cody before the race I decided that was a little fast and shoot for 6:30.  The first 2.5 miles are slight uphill so I didn't want to start to fast.

My watch doesn't keep laps so all splits are from memory

1: 6:30 (slight up hill)

2: 13:12 (slight up hill)

3: 20:10 about

4: 26:45

5: I don't remember

6: don' remember seeing mile marker

Finished in 41:51

I came into the race wanting to run a sub 40 minute 10k so I didn't meet that goal but I did set a PR by 21 seconds.

Ran 8 miles in 58:56 whick is a 7:22 mile.  I ran the first .75 miles then stretched.  I ran the first 2.5 mile in 17:30 3 mile in 20:48, 4 mile in 28:45, 5 mile in 35:50.  I ran pretty hard and I was hoping to average a 7:15 mile.  The first 3 mile were a little fast 6:56, mile 4 was to slow (7:57).  Mile five was a good pace, 7:05, but the last three mile I averaged a 7:42 mile.  I ran the last mile in about 7:26 so I did speed up in the end.  I need to increase my endurance so I can hold the pace for longer.

This race report is more for my son then me.  My oldest 9 year old ran his first race today.  The turkey trot was a four mile race that did two laps.  Kids 12 and under ran one lap, so 2 miles.  My son and I ran together during the first lap.  Curtis did really well, he ran the first mile in about 9 minutes, the first mile was down hill.  The second mile was a gradual uphill.  He was pretty tired, but happy.  He finish third in the kids and first in his age group.  He won a turkey.  He finished in 23:12

After running with my son the first lap I ran the last lap in 13:10.  The race was pretty small so It was a good race for my sons first race.  I took third in my age group and won a Pie.  OK I took third out of three, but I still got a pumpkin pie.
