I have always enjoyed running and my wife is slowly being converted. While I was going through college I didn't do much running so I am having to teach my leg how to run fast again. Favorite Blogs: |

2:56:21 PR by over 5 minutes and breaking 3 hours what else can I say.
I got up at 4:15 got dressed and ate 3 or 4 muffins a banana and started drinking a quart of sports drink. My wife and I get a long quarter mile ride to the starting line. We get there at about 5:15. At the starting line I just relax and drink water and sports drink and nibble on some more muffins. This year the elite corral was fuller than I remember. I use the bathroom, then go out and just walk around. I jump back in line to use the port a potties. I finish using the bathroom about 2 minutes before the start of the race. I start of the race feeling pretty good, but I notice my shoe is to tight. I stop and untie the shoe and loosen it and tie it again. I got it right this time but it did cost me about 15-20 seconds. My goal for the first 7 miles was to run 6:42 miles and bank some time for miles 8-12. I get to the 7 mile aid station and see my cousin wave to him. I stayed at his house friday night. In waving to my cousin I went to get the water and gatorade but I missed them at this aid station. Not a good aid station to miss before Veyo. This year Veyo didn't seem to bad the part that was hard was Damrin Valley. The hill is not too steep but it goes forever. I get to mile 13 in 1:27:35 I am not sure what the half split was No clock this year. The clock at every mile marker was nice. About half way I start noticing a head wind, and it was starting to heat up. At about 13.5 miles I see I am catching lady in a red St George singlet I look over and see it is AmberG and she doesn't look good. I ask her if she I alright and she starts crying I wanted to see if I could help, but she would have none of it and told me to go. I hope she is OK It is starting to get hot and with the head wind I was hoping I don't hit the wall to hard. Every aid station I would take gatorade then two glasses of water. I would drink one glass and pore the other one over my head. The hill in mile 19 scared me because I felt harder than Veyo. I never did hit the wall in the last 6 miles of the race though. I struggled in the last mile but I don't feel to bad about a 7:00 mile of the 26 mile of a marathon. My time at the 26 mile was 2:54:24 a :46 second negative split. I still can't believe my time.
Splits 7:02, 6:39, 6:24, 6:22, 6:38, 6:20, 6:25, 7:13, 6:59, 7:01, 7:08, 6:52, 6:31, 6:41, 6:16, 6:19, 6:30, 6:45, 7:13, 6:42, 6:18, 6:54, 6:43, 6:36, 6:53, 7:00, 1:57 a 6:49 average for the last .29

| 8.6 miles in at about 8:15 mile. I ran around town. I will be taking about a week off. I have developed Plantar Fasciitis in both feet. I have been dealing with it for about 2 months but I think it is a good time to rest, ice my feet. |

| I signed up for this race in september before the marathon. I have not run for the last week and a half, because I have been dealing with Feet problems. This race was a night mare. I should be able to run a 22 minute 5k in my sleep. I ran 25 seconds slower than last year. In this race the second mile as some pretty good up hill. I was struggling to run a 8 minute mile. The last miles was pretty flat and I only ran a 7:10 mile. I almost didn't blog this race hoping I could forget about it. |
