I got up early in the morning not planning on running the race but wanting to get a run in. I started running and got to wear my normal Stretching place. My calf was feeling really good. So decided to jump in the 5K. The 1.5 mile calf check was in 12:48 a 8:23 average.
I got home and eat some toast and drank some sports drink then went and signed up. They started the race pretty much on time. I started in third or forth place. I stayed about 30 yards behind the leaders until about 1 mile into the race. At about the mile marker move up to the shoulder of the first place runner. I run with him for about 3/4s of a mile then I fall back and two people pass me. One of the two runner catches the guy in first and run shoulder to shoulder for the rest of the race. I have one other runner pass me in the last half mile. The first place runner finished about 50 yards in front of me. My legs didn't have much pop in them I need to finish races better. The race went pretty good considering my training and best of all my calf didn't act up during the race so that is good. My time was about 1:25 slower then last year. Splits 6:30, 7:08, 6:55, 0:43 for the last 0.1 miles
